The Haitian National Police (HNP) confirmed having carried out several decisive operations over the past weekend, resulting in the arrest of three individuals involved in serious crimes in the Centre and South departments. In Maïssade, two suspected murderers were apprehended by the Departmental Judicial Police Service (SDPJ-Centre in French), while a wanted gang member was captured in the South by the UDMO – a specialized unit.
Chérubin Dieufette, age 40, was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and for his alleged involvement in the assassination of Saint Fleur Shenighder. His suspected accomplice, Louis Jacques Evens, 27, stands accused of having murdered his own mother, Juslaine Silony, and his sister, Paul Shellda, according to police authorities in the Centre.
In the South department, police arrested Jean Louis Philippe, identified as an active member of the gang formerly led by an individual known as “Office,” recently dismantled in Tiburon. After fleeing to Port-au-Prince following the gang’s collapse, Philippe had discreetly returned to his hometown of Carpentier, in the commune of Port-Salut, where he was located and arrested.
Philippe is implicated in several kidnapping cases in the South and had been closely tracked by law enforcement. The HNP also confirmed that one of his accomplices, known by the alias “Timazou,” has already been jailed in Les Cayes civil prison.
These arrests underscore the police force’s continued determination to pursue criminals and strengthen security in targeted areas. The HNP affirmed that all suspects will be brought before the courts to answer for their actions in accordance with the law.
