The Haitian government has officially confirmed the resumption of American Airlines flights to Haiti as of November 1, 2026. According to a note from the Ministry of Communication published on October 30, the American company’s aircraft will serve the Cap-Haïtien international airport with exclusively Haitian crews, including a pilot who is a former director general of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC).
The Ministry of Communication attributes this resumption to the modernization work on the Cap-Haïtien airport infrastructure, undertaken under the impetus of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. “The resumption of American Airlines flights is the fruit of the Prime Minister’s efforts,” the ministry emphasizes in its communication.
The authorities also announce discussions between Haitian Civil Aviation and several foreign airlines with a view to restoring connections with Europe and other destinations on the American continent. This resumption constitutes the announced return of a major American airline to Haiti, after the restrictions imposed by American federal authorities at the end of 2024.
