Electoral Council Postpones Elections to July 18, 2027

November 2, 2026

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP in French) has set July 18, 2027, as the date for the first round of presidential and legislative elections, as well as the popular ratification referendum, according to the new electoral calendar covering the 2026-2027 period. The election campaign for this first round is to run from April 15 to July 17, 2027, on the eve of the vote.

The CEP plans to publish the preliminary results of the presidential and legislative elections on July 22, then the final results of the first round on August 9, 2027. The second round, combined with elections for territorial collectivities, is scheduled for October 4, following an election campaign planned from September 3 to October 2.

For this second phase, the preliminary results of the presidential and legislative elections are expected on October 6 and 7, while the final results are due to be published on October 20, 2027. Those of the territorial collectivity elections are announced for October 23, but the realization of these deadlines will depend on the electoral authorities’ ability to respect the established calendar.
