October 24, 2026

The Haitian government is planning a budget of 401.2 billion gourdes for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, whose main orientations were presented this Wednesday, October 7 by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Serge Gabriel Collin. This envelope, presented on the instruction of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, is intended in particular to support security, the electoral process and the relaunch of the economy.

The Haitian National Police is among the main priorities displayed by the executive, which wants to strengthen the State’s capacities and security on the territory. Education also receives particular attention, with the minister recalling that it constitutes “an essential pillar in preparing Haiti’s future.”

The budget also provides for investments in several regions, notably in road, health and school infrastructure in the Grand Nord and the South. Through these projects, the government intends to use public spending as a lever to support the recovery of economic activity and improve services to the population.

According to Serge Gabriel Collin, the budget choices must make it possible to preserve macroeconomic balances while creating a more favorable environment for private investment. The executive also presents this budget as a tool intended to consolidate institutions, improve living conditions and create the conditions necessary for organizing the next elections.
