Santo Domingo Reaffirms Its Support for Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé

February 11, 2026

The Dominican government on Friday called on Haitian political actors to demonstrate responsibility by preserving institutional unity in a context of prolonged crisis. At the same time, it reiterated its support for the government led by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

In an official note, the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that international partners involved in the country’s stabilization expect clear signals of cohesion and consultation from Haitian authorities. The document also underscored the urgency for the executive branch to address the fundamental needs of a population severely affected by crisis.

The statement mentioned the upcoming deployment of the Gang Suppression Force, presented as a decisive lever in combating armed violence, securing the electoral process, and restoring public authority. This multilateral initiative is considered central to the crisis exit strategy.

While welcoming the security gains achieved by specialized Haitian units, Santo Domingo insisted on the rapid and full implementation of United Nations resolutions. Dominican authorities consider their effective financing essential to the sustainable success of ongoing actions.
