Ministerial Reshuffle: Three Indicted Advisors Condition Their Resignation on Control of the Ministry of Justice

November 11, 2024

An important meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, between the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) and Prime Minister Garry Conille to discuss a potential reshuffle of cabinet ministries. The discussions aim to address tensions surrounding necessary changes within the Cabinet, with the CPT emphasizing the need for collaboration with the head of government.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister is set to discuss the details of the reshuffle with presidential advisors, as three indicted advisors are conditioning their resignation on securing the Ministry of Justice. At the same time, CPT President Lesly Voltaire is pushing for control over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, Voltaire’s efforts contrast with Conille’s approach, as the Prime Minister has already consulted with multiple sectors, including the December 21 Accord, the Montana Accord, and EDE.

Uncertainty remains over the key ministerial posts, as Conille had previously appointed figures of his choosing to some of these positions, creating a delicate situation for the future of the government.
