The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP in French) announced that a series of working meetings were held with the Prime Minister’s Office between June 11 and 23, 2026, to examine amendments to the electoral decree of June 2, 2026. This bipartisan commission, composed of representatives from both institutions, examined several provisions deemed essential to the proper conduct of the electoral process.
According to the CEP, the discussions focused in particular on “certain provisions relating to the independence of the Electoral Institution” as well as “other elements likely to hinder the smooth progress of the ongoing electoral process.” Representatives of several political parties, invited by the Prime Minister’s Office, also participated in the exchanges to voice their concerns and recommendations.
Alongside these consultations, working sessions brought together representatives of the CEP and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to discuss the financing of electoral operations. The electoral institution indicated that it intends to continue dialogue with political parties and civil society organizations, while reaffirming its commitment to conducting the process “in an inclusive and impartial manner,” in accordance with the principles of independence, transparency, and democratic accountability.
