Security Guard Who Allegedly Killed Wanderson Zamy Arrested by Judicial Police

August 31, 2025

On Monday, August 25, the Judicial Police arrested Ferdinand Saint Fleur, a security guard assigned to the Ministry of National Education. According to Deputy Spokesperson of the Haitian National Police (HNP), Lionel Lazarre, the suspect was apprehended as he presented himself at the Delmas 33 police station.

This arrest comes a week after the tragic death of 19-year-old Wanderson Zamy, who was killed on August 18 in Delmas 83, in front of the MENFP offices. The young graduate, passionate about basketball and known on TikTok under the pseudonym WZ12, was fatally shot during a protest by trainee teachers.

Witnesses quickly accused the security guards of firing directly at people as the crowd was dispersed. It was in this context that officer Ferdinand Saint Fleur was placed in custody at the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ in French) to be questioned.

The funeral of young Zamy took place on Wednesday, August 27, at Saint-Pierre Church in Pétion-Ville, in the presence of a grieving crowd. Family, friends, and admirers expressed anger and incomprehension at the sudden loss of someone who had begun to capture the hearts of young people on social media.
