The President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ilan Goldfajn, is embarking on an official visit to Haiti from May 7 to 9, 2025, at the invitation of the Haitian government. This high-level mission will take place in the North and Northeast departments, focusing on major projects for national development.
During this visit, Mr. Goldfajn will meet with the President of the Presidential Transition Council, Fritz Alphonse Jean, to discuss enhanced technical and financial support. “These discussions will focus on the modalities of support […] in a context marked by numerous challenges, but also one that holds promise,” the official statement emphasizes.
The visit is part of an effort to stimulate the economy and strengthen public institutions. Education, infrastructure, potable water, governance, and local development are among the priorities identified for intensifying cooperation.
Sectoral meetings and field visits will allow the IDB delegation to assess ongoing projects and maximize their impact. This initiative aims to “boost regional cooperation” and strengthen synergies between Haitian and international stakeholders.
