Peterson Pierre-Louis Becomes President of Provisional Electoral Council

September 10, 2026

The Provisional Electoral Council (PEC) proceeded, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, to a reorganization of its executive bureau. Peterson Pierre-Louis, representative of the reformed faith sector and until then Secretary General, succeeds Jacques Desrosiers as president.

The new bureau keeps Jaccéus Joseph as vice-president, while Nemrod Sanon moves from treasurer to secretary general. Schnaïda Adély, representative of the Vodou sector, joins the bureau as treasurer.

According to a source at the CEP consulted by Le Nouvelliste, this decision follows two meetings held Monday and Tuesday between the nine electoral councilors. It specifies, however, that an annual rotation of the leadership is not provided for by the institution’s internal regulations.
