Attempted Murder in Port-Salut: Police Arrest Key Suspect

June 29, 2025

Law enforcement officers in Haiti’s southern department have arrested Saint Cyr Gabriel, also known as “Tiga,” who was actively sought for attempted murder. The operation was carried out under a warrant issued by the competent judicial authorities.

The criminal act targeted Montumere Joseph and occurred in Delva, the first communal section of Port-Salut. While specific details of the attack have not been disclosed, police say they acted swiftly once the suspect’s location was identified.

This arrest is part of the Haitian National Police’s renewed commitment to combating impunity. “The HNP reaffirms its dedication to neutralizing anyone involved in criminal activities,” an official statement declared.

The HNP press office also noted that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to secure rural areas and protect citizens. Authorities confirm that investigations are ongoing to uncover any possible accomplices.
