The Haitian Police Confirms Neutralizing Over Forty Gang Members in Targeted Operations

November 20, 2024

The Haitian National Police (HNP) announced that they carried out a large-scale operation in Pétion-Ville during the night of November 18–19, 2024, resulting in the seizure of significant weaponry, ammunition, and drones. According to a police source who confirmed the information to Amitié FM, the operation ended with the deaths of 42 members of the criminal gang “Viv Ansanm.” This intervention was aimed at thwarting a planned attack on the municipalities of Pétion-Ville and Delmas.

The operation began around 2:00 a.m. when a Forward-brand truck, license plate ZA-39147, was intercepted near the Panamanian Embassy on Rue Panaméricaine. The vehicle was found to be carrying an arsenal that included ammunition, firearms of various calibers, and two drones. Law enforcement promptly engaged the armed group in a firefight, successfully preventing their attempt to overrun the area.

In a parallel action, two buses were seized in Poste Marchand on suspicion of being used for related criminal activities. The coordination of specialized PNH units minimized potential damage and ensured the security of these strategic zones. These actions underscore the operational capabilities of law enforcement, despite the complex challenges they face.

The HNP continues to call for vigilance and citizen cooperation. This blow to the “Viv Ansanm” gang represents a significant step forward in the fight against armed gangs.
