The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) announces the registration of 18 political groupings for the upcoming elections, bringing together a total of 236 of the 316 approved political parties. The closing of this phase, extended until August 6, was officially noted Thursday evening by a justice of the peace from the commune of Pétion-Ville, at 9:50 PM.
The CEP has published the list of the 18 groupings as well as the political parties that compose them, in accordance with the provisions of the ongoing electoral process. The document is also available on the institution’s website, its official Facebook page, and its official account on X, in order to allow concerned actors and the public to view it.
The next step will be devoted to the analysis of files submitted by the various groupings, with the publication of the list of approved political groupings scheduled for August 8, 2026. The CEP then specifies that the registration of political coalitions will take place from August 10 to 14, in accordance with the electoral calendar.
Through this new phase, the electoral institution affirms its desire to continue the process in an “inclusive and impartial” manner, while respecting the principles of independence, transparency, integrity, and democratic responsibility. The publication of this list thus marks a new step in the preparation of upcoming electoral competitions, to which political formations must now comply with the requirements of the established calendar.
