Extension of Registration Deadlines for Political Groupings Ahead of the 2026 Elections

August 9, 2026

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) announced, on August 3, 2026, an extension of the deadlines granted to political parties to form groupings.

This decision, published by press release, aims to promote the broadest possible participation in the electoral process.

From now on, the formation of political party groupings is set from August 4 to 6, 2026, while the final list of approved groupings will be published on August 8, 2026.

On the other hand, the registration period for political coalitions remains unchanged, from August 10 to 14, 2026.

The CEP reaffirms its commitment to conducting the electoral process in accordance with the principles of independence, transparency, and integrity.

The institution specifies that these adjustments aim to encourage the gathering of political forces in a spirit of inclusion and democratic responsibility.

The note, signed from the CEP’s central headquarters in Pétion-ville, invites political formations to comply with the new deadlines.
