Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé made a symbolic visit to the Ouanaminthe Medical and Social Center on May 16, 2025, where he presented a check to fund the construction and launch of the facility’s new pediatric unit.
“These funds reflect our determination to provide children with quality care in a setting that upholds their dignity,” the Prime Minister stated during the visit.
He commended the dedication of the center’s healthcare staff, emphasizing their essential role in preserving life. He also praised the Minister of Health for handling the project “with the seriousness and urgency it deserves.”
Alongside the financial support, the Prime Minister announced plans to convert temporary contracts into permanent appointments, securing long-term employment for medical personnel. “Our doctors and nurses deserve the stability to continue their critical work,” he said.
He further outlined upcoming measures to enhance epidemiological surveillance, noting that the center will soon resume operations. “We must anticipate and manage health crises with professionalism,” he added.
In closing, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equitable healthcare access. “Health is not a privilege — it is a fundamental right that we must protect,” he declared.
