The CEP Warns Against Premature Electoral Campaigns

October 5, 2026

Through a press release, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) issued a firm warning to political parties, political groupings, and candidates.

The electoral institution recalls that the official campaign period has not yet begun.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 193 of the Electoral Decree of June 2, 2026, it is up to the CEP to establish and announce the official dates for campaign activities in the near future.

Consequently, the CEP urges all political actors to refrain from any activity resembling an electoral campaign outside the officially established period. It also exhorts them to scrupulously respect the laws and regulations governing the electoral process.

Finally, the Council reaffirms its commitment to conducting an inclusive, impartial, and transparent process, in strict compliance with democratic principles, to ensure a serene and fair electoral climate for all citizens.
