The Court of Cassation officially ended the 2025-2026 judicial year during an extraordinary hearing held on Friday, July 31, in accordance with legal provisions. On this occasion, the magistrates delivered six rulings before President Jean-Joseph Lebrun pronounced the closure of the judicial year across the entire territory.
In his address, Jean-Joseph Lebrun welcomed the resilience of the judicial institution in the face of a context marked by insecurity and the many difficulties encountered by the country. He paid tribute to the victims of violence and highlighted the courage of magistrates and actors in the judicial chain who continued their mission despite threats.
The President of the Court of Cassation advocated for a stable security environment, stating that no justice reform can succeed without the protection of magistrates and the independence of the judiciary. The ceremony ended with distinctions awarded to several deputy public prosecutors and a minute of silence in memory of Magistrate Antoine Norgaisse.
