The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP in French) announced the official launch of voter registration operations on the electoral roll starting Monday, July 20, 2026. This first phase will take place in the chief towns of nine geographical departments of the country, with the exception of the West department.
The institution explains that this temporary exclusion is linked to the particular constraints that persist in the West department. It specifies that it is continuing to assess the situation in order to gradually extend operations to this region, as well as to all communes in other departments, when security, accessibility, and efficiency conditions permit.
The CEP invites citizens to go to the Registration and Voting Centers (CIV) with their valid national identification card to complete the required formalities. “Voter registration operations on the electoral roll begin on Monday, July 20, 2026,” the institution reminds in its press release.
Through this approach, the Provisional Electoral Council affirms its desire to conduct the electoral process “in an inclusive, impartial, and transparent manner.” It reiterates its commitment to respecting the principles of independence, integrity, accountability, as well as every citizen’s right to participate in the country’s democratic life.
