President of Haiti’s Supreme Court Returns to Office After Medical Leave

June 29, 2025

The Court of Cassation (Supreme Court) has announced that its president, Me Jean-Joseph Lebrun, officially resumed his duties on Monday, June 23, 2025. The announcement is addressed in particular to the public, reaffirming the court’s commitment to ensuring continuity of judicial services.

Me Lebrun, who also chairs the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ in French), had been out of the country since late April for medical reasons. His return marks the effective resumption of his responsibilities at the helm of both institutions.

This return comes at a time when stability within the judiciary remains essential for the country’s broader institutional recovery. The Court emphasized that it continues to operate normally under the leadership of its president.
