The Ministry of Economy and Finance has announced the indefinite postponement of the MEF-Expo, originally scheduled for January 29–31, 2026. The initiative aimed to bring tax and financial administration closer to citizens through direct services and reform presentations.
Strongly promoted by the MEF, the MEF-Expo was intended to symbolize a new governance approach centered on transparency and efficiency. Its postponement is attributed to a tense political climate and persistent institutional instability.
This context is further aggravated by U.S. sanctions targeting Alfred Fils Métellus, current Minister of Economy and Finance, as well as CPT members Smith Augustin and Edgard Leblanc Fils. Métellus, designated Acting Prime Minister by a majority of the presidential council following a resolution against Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, failed to secure his objective as the international community firmly supports maintaining the current government as February 7, 2026 approaches.
