Haiti’s National Police apprehended Lesly Lafond, also known as “Tipapit,” on June 29, 2025, in Monchil 1, in the commune of Jacmel, for his suspected involvement in the assassination of Jacques Louis Antoine, which took place on June 30, 2015. The victim, father of two members of the National Police, had been deliberately targeted and executed.
At 56 years old, the suspect was found after a ten-year manhunt led by the Southeastern Departmental Judicial Police Service (SDPJ-SE). According to an official statement, “he was finally located and apprehended by the SDPJ-SE thanks to gathered intelligence.”
This arrest illustrates the police’s ongoing commitment to resolving cold cases that have remained without legal closure. For the PNH, it demonstrates “the determination of law enforcement to relentlessly pursue criminals, regardless of how long they have been on the run.”
The suspected murderer is currently in custody and awaiting presentation before the competent judicial authorities. The next steps in the process are now in the hands of the judiciary.
