Electoral Council Extends Candidate Registration for Elections to October 31

October 24, 2026

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP in French) announces a rearrangement of several deadlines in the Haitian electoral process, following consultations with political actors and the adoption, on October 5, by the Council of Ministers, of amendments to the electoral decree of June 2, 2026.

In a note published Monday, the CEP indicates that online registration of candidates as well as the filing of required documents are extended until October 31, 2026.

This decision is intended to allow candidates and political structures additional time to complete the necessary formalities.

The CEP also specifies that the electoral campaign, initially scheduled according to the calendar in force, is postponed.

New dates will be communicated later.

Meanwhile, voter registration continues.

The CEP finally announces it is working to finalize an updated electoral calendar, which will be made public shortly.
