The Eminent Persons Group (EPG) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) welcomed the publication of the 2026-2027 electoral calendar by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), considering it a decisive step for the holding of the upcoming elections in Haiti.
According to the EPG, this calendar, long awaited by national actors and the international community, will make it possible to accelerate preparations, notably the registration of political parties, platforms, coalitions, and voters.
The regional organization encourages the CEP to continue close collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the process leading to the first round of presidential and legislative elections, as well as the constitutional referendum, scheduled for December 13, 2026.
The EPG also calls on political actors to participate actively in the electoral process in order to guarantee free, credible, and inclusive elections.
Finally, it urges contributing countries to the Gang Repression Force (FRG) to accelerate the deployment of their personnel to strengthen security before the elections.
