About 70 Haitian migrants arrived in Haiti on Thursday aboard an ICE flight identified as GXA6196, from Alexandria, Louisiana, after a stopover in Miami. The aircraft landed at Cap-Haïtien International Airport with several women and children on board, while the majority of those repatriated were young adults.
This new return comes a few days after the arrival of more than 160 Haitians expelled from the United States, on August 21, at the same airport, as Washington intensifies deportations to Haiti. The Miami Herald reports that children are among those expelled, making this flight the second organized to Haiti since the effective end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals.
The situation is particularly uncertain for Haitians who benefited from TPS, whose protection was ultimately removed on July 27, 2026, after a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court authorizing the measure. This decision now exposes hundreds of thousands of Haitian nationals to the loss of their work authorization and, for those who do not have another immigration status, to an increased risk of arrest and deportation, while legal proceedings and efforts to restore or extend TPS continue.
