Assassination of Jovenel Moïse: revelations of a plot undermined by betrayals and manipulation

April 14, 2026

More than four years after the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, new elements revealed during a federal trial in Miami shed light on the inner workings of a complex plot involving manipulation, rivalries, and political dealings.

U.S. prosecutors describe a chaotic operation marked by shifting alliances and several failed plans aimed at overthrowing the head of state.

At the center of the case is Antonio Intriago, accused of recruiting a commando of Colombian mercenaries.

Message exchanges show that after the July 7, 2021 attack, suspects attempted to reframe the operation as a lawful arrest while seeking protection from Haitian authorities, notably Police Chief Léon Charles.

Communications analyzed by the FBI also reveal attempts at political negotiations to install a new government.

Amid lies, betrayals, and power struggles, these revelations illustrate the rapid collapse of a plot with international ramifications.
