Artibonite: Motorcycle Taxi Driver Arrested with Ammunition Bound for “Gran Grif” Gang

August 5, 2025

A man identified only as Wendy was arrested Sunday in Jean Denis, Artibonite, while transporting a large quantity of ammunition intended for the “Gran Grif” gang operating in Savien. According to his own statements, he was acting as a courier and was supposed to deliver the cartridges to members of the armed group active in the commune of Petite-Rivière.

The operation was carried out by a local self-defense brigade, which had been alerted to the source of the ammunition. The suspect admitted obtaining the weapons from a woman living in the “Mac Donald” neighborhood of Saint-Marc. Her home was later set on fire by the same armed civilians, though no casualties were reported.
