Arrest of Former Deputy Alfredo Antoine by the Judiciary Police

April 7, 2025

The Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) arrested Alfredo Antoine, former deputy of the Kenscoff district, this Friday in execution of a wanted notice issued against him.

Antoine is accused of particularly serious offenses, including conspiracy against the internal security of the State, financing of criminal groups, complicity in assassination, and criminal conspiracy. The same charges have also been brought against former Senator Nenel Cassy. These arrest warrants were made public by the DCPJ during a press conference held on February 18, 2024, citing alleged ties between the former elected officials and armed gangs operating in the country.

Ironically, Alfredo Antoine had publicly positioned himself as a vocal critic of violence in Kenscoff, and had denounced the actions of former USGPN chief Dimitri Hérard. Despite his outspoken stance, he now finds himself caught up in legal proceedings and under the authority of the competent judicial system.
