On Sunday, June 22, 2025, French Ambassador to Haiti, Antoine Michon, visited Kenscoff, a locality in the Ouest department that has been heavily affected by a surge in armed attacks since January 27. Once a peaceful mountain town, the area now lives under the constant threat of criminal groups carrying out repeated incursions.
This field visit signals a clear show of solidarity and international support amid growing instability. The ambassador met with Mayor Jean Massillon and the local police commissioner to commend their courage in defending the community.
“I visited the mayor of Kenscoff and the PNH commissioner to salute their commitment in the fight against criminal groups that have sown terror,” Michon wrote on social media. He reaffirmed that “France fully supports the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in reclaiming the territory.”
In a tense national context, this diplomatic gesture forms part of a broader effort to seek concrete solutions to stabilize high-risk zones. Kenscoff has become a symbol of resilience and cooperation between partners committed to restoring security.
