On October 16, the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) sent an official letter to Prime Minister Garry Conille, stressing the urgency of proceeding with a cabinet reshuffle. This request follows a critical evaluation of the achievements made during the first four months of the Conille administration, conducted during a regular TPC meeting on October 15, 2024.
In this letter, the TPC expressed concerns about the initial decisions made regarding the composition of the cabinet, notably the handling of multiple portfolios by a single minister in an effort to reduce public spending. Although this strategy aimed to redirect funds toward more productive investments, the TPC emphasized that the expected results have not materialized. The population, in need of improved well-being and concrete solutions to the economic crisis, has not felt the anticipated benefits of these measures.
The Council also criticized the disappointing performance of the government team, highlighting a lack of cohesion and dynamism in public affairs management. According to the TPC, the current administration has failed to provide an adequate response to the country’s economic and social challenges, particularly concerning the revival of small, medium, and large businesses affected by the crisis.
In light of this situation, the TPC emphasized the necessity of a cabinet reshuffle that could restore hope to the population and meet the urgent demands of the citizens. This change, according to the Council, must occur without delay to allow the government to more effectively engage in the process of social and economic transformation required by the Haitian people.
The TPC concluded by reiterating its commitment to the rigorous management of public resources while stressing the urgency of this move to ensure a renewed dynamic within the government and to advance the vision of a rebuilding Haiti.
