72 Haitians Deported From United States Land in Cap-Haïtien

October 24, 2026

The Trump administration proceeded, Thursday, October 8, 2026, with its eighth deportation flight to Haiti, landing 72 migrants at Cap-Haïtien international airport, including 62 men and 10 women. This rotation is part of an accelerated wave of expulsions since the revocation of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) that protected more than 300,000 Haitians in the United States, with flights going from a monthly to an almost weekly frequency.

Upon landing, the deportees were taken care of by a joint team from the Office of National Migration (ONM), the Haitian National Police (HNP), the Red Cross, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), IBESR (Social Affairs), the Minister of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As on previous flights, each person received an allowance of 25,000 gourdes, as well as food, drinks and water, before benefiting from medical assistance, psychological support, transportation and hotel accommodation.

These successive arrivals come in an already catastrophic humanitarian and security context, while more than 470 people have been expelled from the United States to Haiti since July 2026. Gang violence, which controls about 70% of the capital and has displaced nearly one and a half million people, makes the return of these deportees all the more perilous.
