The Electoral Council Exchanges with the Prime Minister on Electoral Process Difficulties

October 5, 2026

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) indicates that it met on the evening of Friday, September 11, with Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and several members of his team. Discussions focused notably on a memorandum presenting concerns expressed by political parties and groupings, as well as other aspects of the electoral process.

This meeting comes a few days after a correspondence addressed to the head of government, in which the CEP signaled technical difficulties related to certain provisions of the electoral decree of June 2, 2026, amended on July 2. The document transmitted to the Prime Minister also incorporates the conclusions of several exchanges engaged in by the CEP with political actors.

The electoral institution reaffirms its determination to continue organizing elections within an inclusive, impartial, and transparent framework. It also emphasizes the necessity of respecting its independence and the principles of democratic accountability in conducting the process.
