The Executive Director of the National Human Rights Defense Network (RNDDH in French), Pierre Espérance, was questioned this Friday by investigating judge Denis Cyprien, as part of the investigation into the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, which occurred in July 2021.
The hearing aimed to gather information from the numerous reports published by the NGO, which had denounced security breaches and inconsistencies in testimonies. The RNDDH has long called for an independent investigation to identify the masterminds.
Nearly five years after the events, the judicial file remains marked by gray areas. Several suspects, including former Colombian soldiers and Haitian-Americans, have been arrested, but the political motivations for the crime remain unclear. No details of the exchanges between Pierre Espérance and the magistrate have been disclosed.
