February 1, 2026

Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council (PEC) and Mexico’s National Electoral Institute (INE) officially signed a cooperation agreement this Wednesday through a memorandum of understanding.

The document was signed by PEC President Jacques Desrosiers and Mexico’s Ambassador to Haiti, José de Jesús Cisneros Chávez, with the goal of strengthening the technical capacity of Haiti’s electoral system.

The agreement provides support notably in training electoral staff, managing and modernizing the voter registry, and integrating technology into election organization.

This cooperation aims to facilitate the sharing of expertise and best practices to consolidate democratic mechanisms.

Both institutions expressed their shared commitment to contributing to a credible electoral process based on mutual respect and the value of every vote.
