Following the fire that broke out at Cluny Market on 9L Street in Cap-Haïtien, the government has stated that “the State is present, mobilized, and fully committed” to supporting affected citizens. The blaze, described as unusually violent, destroyed numerous stalls and abruptly deprived many families of their livelihoods.
On the instructions of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities was immediately dispatched to the North for a “rigorous and comprehensive assessment of the damage.” The mission aims to establish actual losses and prepare a public response based on verified data.
The Executive expressed its “deepest compassion” for the merchants and families impacted by the disaster, reaffirming that “no citizen will be left alone in the face of this ordeal,” while acknowledging the scale of distress and economic hardship caused.

This approach reflects the Prime Minister’s determination to ensure an effective state presence and to “fully exercise the sovereign responsibilities of the State.” The stated objective is concrete, rapid, and appropriate assistance proportional to the needs identified on the ground.
Pending the official report from the Ministry of the Interior, the Prime Minister intends to decide “without delay” on the appropriate measures and to coordinate a structured institutional response. In Cap-Haïtien, the message is clear: the State is acting, protecting citizens, and asserting its authority.
