Fanmi Lavalas, RED, and Compromis Historique Distance Themselves from Voltaire and Augustin

January 25, 2026

The Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) is going through one of the most critical phases since its establishment, shaken by an attempt to revoke Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

Five councilors adopted a resolution to that effect, despite opposition from the TPC’s coordinator and clear warnings from international partners, including the United States, Canada, and the European Union.

This initiative has triggered an open rift between several political parties and their representatives within the TPC.

Fanmi Lavalas accuses Leslie Voltaire of maneuvering to prolong his political influence, while Compromis Historique and RED condemn Smith Augustin’s move as irresponsible and demand the withdrawal of his signature, as the February 7 deadline approaches.
