January 23, 2026

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security held a high-level meeting with the U.S. Embassy in Haiti focused on the progress of the investigation into the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, which occurred during the night of July 6–7, 2021. According to the official statement, discussions also addressed “issues related to the sustainable restoration of national security.”

The meeting aimed to coordinate efforts to ensure the investigation reaches its conclusion and that justice is served in this emblematic case. Authorities emphasized the importance of rigorous follow-up and sustained collaboration to prevent impunity.

This dialogue is part of a broader effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation and consolidate shared commitments to stability and security. The discussions clarified priorities and identified concrete avenues for collaboration between Haiti and Washington.

In a fragile political and security context, the initiative is seen as a strong signal toward restoring trust in institutions. Authorities hope these joint efforts will contribute to reinforcing national security and supporting long-term stability.
