At the 31st edition of the Mardis de la Nation, Minister of Commerce and Industry James Monazard presented the main programs and reforms undertaken by his ministry under the leadership of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. He stated that these actions fall within a “new dynamic of economic development and job creation.”
The MCI head highlighted a “significant qualitative leap,” moving from two identified investment projects in June 2024 to fourteen structuring projects in 2025. This progress, he said, reflects the effect of “strong political will” driven by the head of government.
On the international front, James Monazard announced that “a decisive step has been taken” in the process of renewing the HOPE/HELP legislation in the U.S. Congress. This mechanism, he noted, could guarantee between 30,000 and 62,000 direct jobs in the textile sector over three years, while the executive advocates extending its validity to ten renewable years.
The minister also discussed the official launch of the digitalized Professional Identity Card, a reform designed to accelerate business formalization. More than 20,000 SMEs have already been registered, and the card can now be issued “within a maximum of 72 hours” after a complete online application.
Finally, the MCI welcomed the disbursement of projects linked to female entrepreneurship and announced measures to strengthen quality control to protect consumers. In closing, James Monazard emphasized the Prime Minister’s determination to promote, through the PAPEJ, “local investment and employment as structural and sustainable responses to insecurity and banditry.”
