Stephora Case: The Santiago Consulate Increases Support to the Victim’s Family

December 17, 2025

The Haitian Consulate in Santiago refocused its efforts Thursday on the circumstances surrounding the death of young Stephora Anne-Mircie Joseph by meeting with her mother and several relatives. The meeting also included the family’s lawyers for an update on the case.

The diplomatic mission states that this session was part of ongoing follow-up aimed at clarifying the circumstances of the death. The discussions reviewed the steps taken and outlined those still ahead.

Head of post Stephen Junior Cherenfant reiterated the Consulate’s commitment to supporting the family within the strict limits of its prerogatives. He provided no details on the precise status of the procedures or on the Dominican authorities involved.

Despite the limited information shared publicly, the consular representation says it remains fully mobilized. It renewed its solidarity with a family still waiting for answers.
