The Haitian National Police (HNP) carried out a large-scale operation during the night of October 11–12 against the “Viv Ansanm” gang in Kenscoff. According to an official statement, this counteroffensive led to intense exchanges of gunfire, resulting in the deaths of several armed individuals.
As they retreated, the assailants set fire to the Wynn Farm property and threatened the Camp Zoi site, located in the hills above Pétion-Ville. These acts—described by the HNP as “reprisal maneuvers”—illustrate the growing brutality of the armed groups entrenched in the metropolitan area.
In light of the severity of the situation, the High Command ordered the immediate deployment of tactical reinforcements. “A CIMO unit, a SWAT team, and a Task Force supported by an armored vehicle were mobilized,” the statement noted, highlighting coordination with the DCPJ and the Research and Intervention Brigade.
The operation resulted in the neutralization of several gang members and the restoration of order in the commune. According to reports from the deployed forces, calm returned to Kenscoff by 3:30 a.m., following several hours of intense fighting.
The PNH reaffirmed its “determination to neutralize all security threats” and to protect the population from destabilization efforts. The institution also urged citizens to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity through the usual channels, reminding that “national security is a shared responsibility.”
