On June 18, the Canadian Embassy in Haiti officially opened its 2025–2026 call for proposals for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), encouraging eligible organizations to submit their ideas by June 28, 2025. The program is “designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects” aligned with Canada’s development priorities.
This year’s call focuses on four key thematic areas: inclusive growth, governance, gender equality, and peace and security. These priorities aim to promote women’s economic rights, strengthen human rights, and contribute to peacebuilding, according to the embassy’s official statement.
Administered through the embassy, the CFLI operates with an annual global budget of CAD $26.8 million. Most projects receive funding between CAD $25,000 and $50,000, with the maximum contribution capped at CAD $100,000. This allows local NGOs and civil society groups to access practical, tailored funding for grassroots initiatives.
The program’s stated goal is to empower local organizations that translate Global Affairs Canada’s priorities into tangible results on the ground. Special emphasis is placed on supporting women and girls, with gender-based analysis being a required component of all proposals.
Applications must be submitted electronically using the Word and Excel templates provided by the embassy. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
