The newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires, Henry Wooster, met this week with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss “an intergovernmental approach to promoting peace and stability in Haiti.” Wooster is expected to play a key role in leading the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince and coordinating diplomatic efforts in support of the Haitian people.
A seasoned diplomat, Henry Wooster is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with more than 30 years of experience. He previously served as U.S. Ambassador to Jordan from 2020 to 2023. He holds a BA from Amherst College and an MA from Yale University, and served as a U.S. Army Reserve officer from 1985 to 2009.
Officially appointed by Secretary Rubio on May 30, Wooster is scheduled to assume his post in Port-au-Prince on June 12, according to a statement from the U.S. Embassy. His mandate includes working closely with the Haitian diaspora, the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Multinational Security Support mission (MSS) to help strengthen the country’s stability and security.
