Man Arrested in Les Cayes for Allegedly Killing His Uncle with a Knife

Police in Haiti’s southern department have arrested Legouté Van Elson this week on suspicion of fatally stabbing his uncle, Legouté Salomon. The incident occurred in the locality of Misene, in the commune of Les Cayes.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, a justice of the peace and a court clerk visited the scene to officially record the crime. The operation was carried out in the presence of officers from the Departmental Judicial Police Service (SDPJ-South).

Legouté Van Elson is currently in custody as the case proceeds. According to the Haitian National Police (HNP), the investigation remains ongoing under the coordination of the SDPJ.
