Kenscoff: Gangs Set Fire to Another PNH Armored Vehicle

March 18, 2025

On Sunday, March 16, 2025, in the middle of the day, an armored vehicle belonging to the Haitian National Police (HNP) was set on fire by armed gangs in the commune of Kenscoff. According to reports, the vehicle was ambushed by gang members who have established themselves in the area.

The attackers used Molotov cocktails to ignite the armored vehicle. Fortunately, the occupants managed to escape unharmed.

This incident is not an isolated one. On February 8, 2025, another HNP armored vehicle caught fire during an operation in Kenscoff. According to HNP Deputy Spokesperson Lionel Lazarre, that fire was caused by overheating during the intervention rather than a gang attack.

These events highlight the growing power of armed groups in the region and underscore the operational challenges faced by the HNP.
