Dominican authorities intercepted a shipment of weapons and ammunition bound for Haiti during an inspection at Haina Port.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), agents discovered 36,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 18 rifle magazines, 13 nine-millimeter magazines, a .50 caliber magazine, a silencer, and a pistol case.
Additionally, 23 firearms from the United States were found in a transiting container shipped from Miami, Florida, with Haiti as its final destination. Among these weapons were a .50-caliber Barrett rifle, 17 rifles of 7.62 caliber, a 9mm rifle, five Glock 9mm pistols, and an Uzi submachine gun.
This seizure follows the recent confiscation of 37 firearms at the same port, highlighting the scale of arms trafficking passing through the Dominican Republic.
