U.S. Embassy in Haiti Reminds of Strict Immigration Laws Ahead of Elections

November 11, 2024

As the U.S. presidential election approaches, the United States Embassy in Haiti has reaffirmed that immigration laws will remain stringent, even following the November 5, 2024, election.

This announcement, shared on the embassy’s X account on November 4, aims to inform Haitian citizens who may be concerned about potential shifts in immigration policy. U.S. authorities confirmed that no immediate changes will be made to current immigration laws, maintaining the rules that allow for swift deportations in cases of illegal entry.

The Embassy urges citizens to pursue legal immigration channels, emphasizing the importance of abiding by these regulations to avoid legal complications, despite the political uncertainty surrounding the election of a new president.
