In a statement issued on Monday, the Haitian National Police (HNP) announced the arrest of Jean-Robert Figaro and Vincent Simpson in Saint-Marc, during an operation targeting a network connected to the “Gran Grif” gang, active in the Savien area of the Artibonite Department.
These individuals were reportedly involved in various criminal activities, acting as lookouts to facilitate kidnappings and serving as negotiators between the families of hostages and the gang led by Luckson Élan.
According to the statement, the operation uncovered incriminating evidence, including images found on Jean-Robert Figaro’s mobile phone that confirmed his ties to the gang leader. The collaboration between vigilant citizens and law enforcement was instrumental in identifying and dismantling this network, which has been described as a strategic pillar of “Gran Grif’s” criminal operations.
The HNP’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against banditry across the country. It emphasized that the success in Saint-Marc is part of ongoing efforts to restore security and weaken criminal networks operating in various regions of Haiti.
