Tourist Outing Turns Into Tragedy at the Citadelle, At Least 12 Dead

A major tragedy struck the Citadelle Henri this Saturday, April 11, 2026. A tourist visit turned into chaos when a sudden event triggered widespread panic inside the site, trapping dozens of visitors in a space with limited access.

Caught off guard and disoriented, many visitors—mostly young people, including school groups—rushed toward a single exit. The resulting stampede was extremely violent, causing multiple deaths and numerous injuries in total confusion.

The preliminary toll reports at least twelve deaths, including several students from Saint-Raphaël. Rescue operations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the tragedy.
