An Antonov cargo plane, belonging to a Ukrainian company, landed on Thursday, February 6, at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, carrying three helicopters designated for the operations of the multinational force in Haiti. Contrary to speculation, the aircraft is not from Russia but from Ukraine. This new aerial equipment represents a strategic asset for the forces engaged in combating insecurity in the country.
These helicopters will be piloted by Salvadoran military personnel, recently deployed to Haiti to participate in security operations. Their role will be crucial in enhancing troop mobility and providing tactical support for ground interventions. The use of these aircraft will improve aerial surveillance and facilitate transportation to hard-to-reach areas, where armed gangs still maintain significant control.
The arrival of these helicopters is part of a broader effort to strengthen the capabilities of the multinational force. Earlier in the day, around 200 Kenyan soldiers also joined the contingents already present in the country, marking an acceleration of the international deployment. The combination of additional personnel and modern equipment aims to boost the effectiveness of operations designed to restore order and stability in Haiti.
