The United States ambassador to Haiti, Henry T. Wooster, has once again urged the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) to accelerate the electoral process.
Back in New York, the diplomat reiterated the urgency for Haitian authorities to define a clear framework for the political transition.
“The time has come for the TPC and members of the government to fulfill their role by presenting a precise plan and setting a timetable for elections,” he said, emphasizing the need for concrete commitments to restore constitutional order.
This warning adds to several prior calls from Washington, which insists that Haitian leaders bear responsibility for pulling the country out of its current political deadlock.
The international community remains attentive to the TPC’s ability to organize free and credible elections as soon as possible.
