Publication of the Electoral Decree Receives Washington’s Support, Which Calls for Strong Mobilization

December 17, 2025

The U.S. Embassy expressed support for the Transitional Presidential Council’s decision to approve the electoral decree, deemed essential for restoring durable democratic functioning. For the U.S. representation, this step is a positive signal in an institutionally fragile context.

It encourages Haitian officials to maintain this momentum by prioritizing dialogue and collective responsibility. International partners are also invited to strengthen their efforts in support of the country’s stabilization.

In this context, Washington highlights the importance of the conference scheduled for December 9 in New York, dedicated to financing the force tasked with fighting gangs. The embassy recalls that the success of the electoral process will also depend on international engagement to reinforce security.
